      <image:caption>Well it was David Goggins appearance on the Huberman Lab podcast that got me gripped this week. I dug in to the 2+ hour sometimes uncomfortable session with Goggins as he describes the terrible life he’s created for himself in order to discover the incredible man he is. I added it to my “Best Podcasts of your life” playlist, which you’re welcome to follow, and it’s the 2nd time Mr Goggin’s endured his way into those hallowed grounds. There’s a moment where Andrew Huberman tells him about the aMCC, a part of the brain which grows when you do something you don’t want to do. It could be the home of willpower itself and, there’s evidence to suggest, it could be the home of the will to live. In either way, I’m finding things I don’t want to do, and that moment when my brain says “Not that… anything but that” I hear a little Goggin’s say “Guess what… now that’s what we’re doing…”</image:caption>

      <image:caption>This week, I’d actually like to cover what I aimed to build and actually became part of breaking… I’ve been working alongside strategists and clever marketing folks to launch a new pricing package for a SaaS product. However… the project was pressured, rushed and, being quite candid, potentially obsolete by the time we launched it. I’m not entirely sold it’s going to be the platform for massive growth and purposeful trajectory that we’d hoped. Here’s what I think went wrong: Trends outperformed the objective of the project and we should have reacted to that. It was launched in march 2023 and realised in Jan 2024. By this time, the metrics we were looking to impact had already shown great development… should we have shelved this initiative? Maybe yes… Ownership of the project was mixed, confused and very top heavy. We’ve started launching new initiatives with Executive Sponsorship, which in many ways is fantastic. However, it keeps something very senior at the top, driving the project forward without really knowing what is happening on the ground. A better solution? Make someone responsible at the ground level and have them report and update the Senior Leader as a necessary part of the project.</image:caption>

      <image:caption>Well Goggins making me do what I don’t want to will help, I’m told, but I also managed to kick off the running part of my fitness journey, which is great. On that note, I have to say how impressed I was with the whole set up and GTM function of Vivo-Barefoot. Incredibly solid branding, putting their mission and beliefs at the front of the content and making you jump on board quickly. A plethora of diverse but very high quality re-marketing video and images. Amazing and interactive purchasing experience as well as a brilliant partnership with InPost for returns and delivery. I was totally bought in by the time they arrived and I love them dearly. Seriously, even if you don’t buy from them, take VB as a masterclass in owning a space and creating a value-narrative.</image:caption>

      <image:caption>“Therapy. Everyone needs more therapy.” my partner said over Christmas. When I suggest she re-engage too, however she said “No… I’ve had quite enough of that…” I think, thankfully to some lesser extent now, Therapy has less of the stigma than it used to. However… I do wonder if we could classify it better. Here’s my two cents: Imagine a flabby body, it’s pale, it’s pasty, it’s clearly formed from some bad habits that are doing nothing for that individual. I’m actually describing myself post lockdown as I write this. That person takes themself to a PT and creates a fitness plan, they start to form habits, they change their diet, they change their sleep, they invest in themselves more. Would we feel that this person was, in some way, weak or deficient? Quite the opposite. Now… Imagine that all of these physical ailments are just visual representations of the subconscious and emotional mind. The PT is a therapist and the routine and workouts are internal dialogues, journaling, speaking openly and facing your fears. Therapy is PT for the emotional brain and my partner is 50% right… we all need more, but none of us are ever done.</image:caption>

      <image:caption>Well you’re reading one of the major outputs of this week, but beyond that… I collaborated with a sterling VP of Customer Success as he laid out his vision for a necessary overhaul of the structure of his department. The clarity and flow of his structure and organisation there was symphonic, a real pleasure to be a part of the project. I listened and coached to about 14 hours of sales calls and learned A LOT. I think call listening may be the most hated, and most valuable task in my tool kit - more to be done there. Salesloft is a pretty great tool, but there’s a lot to be desired from it’s call coaching and scoring system. We saw 27 customer interviews turn into huge insights into a competitive market and showcase a pathway to two new, completely untapped revenue streams sitting there begging for our tech. Exciting times, watch this space. I officially started working with a good friend and epic leader Chris Smith on his latest venture.</image:caption>

      <image:caption>Some massive impact this week from listening to a series of podcasts from the Huberman Lab as well as benefitting from the momentum of last year. We locked down the schedule, launched the meal prep and worked hard on implementing the regime agreed with my AI Custom GPT Coach (sorry, I built it just for me right now). Here’s the big wins: Meal prep saved MASSES of time and empowered the big workouts on Monday, Wednesday and Friday. I enforced an eight hour window on Time Restricted Eating (TRE) for those days too. Tuesday and Thursday were my 24 hour fast days and went well (with a bit of a wobble on Tuesday). New Trainers courtesy of the excellent Vivo Barefoot and a hybrid bike thanks to Halfords made waves in my workouts and my mobility. Reduced coffees to three per day max… this makes me sad… Drank more water.</image:caption>

      <image:caption>So, it’s absolutely true… meditation is awesome. I incorporated a meditation session into my ice room time on my endurance days and it’s been great. The 30 day beginners guide to meditation by Jeff Warren on the Calm app is nothing less than transcendental. So good in fact, there’s a whole medium article about it. I also tried to be a better partner and a better father this week, two investments with instant returns - I’m a lucky man… and also a man who spent two hours being a dragon… the two are intertwined. To that end, I also have to evangelise the gratitude journal. Starting your day by being thankful for the little things makes everything else really special. And, we are lucky. The miracle of the universe is occurring right now so you can read this, so I can write it. That in itself is a wondrous impossibility we shouldn’t shy away from, but welcome and enjoy.</image:caption>

      <image:caption>My learning apps and subscriptions now extend to Blinklist, Spotify Podcasts and now Masterclass. I’m cramming in learning wherever I can. A quick drive? Perfect - Listen to a book summary on Blinklist then write up what I remember when I arrive. Long drive? Excellent, let’s dive into some of the high quality long form podcasts on Spotify. Treadmill or bike? Let’s rock out the Masterclass. Here are some direct recommendations from the three: Blinklist - It’s a great service and I use it a lot. You can see my “Recommended Progression” space here if you like. The most impactful one I went through this week was “3 Minute Rule” which has completely changed my pitch. Spotify - I don’t think I need to pitch this service (Judging from the significant rise in stock share) but the long form podcasts are fantastic. Yes, I do listen to some Joe Rogan podcasts, you should too, I think he’s one of the most capable interviewers of our generation… you don’t have to agree to everything he or his guests say, and I’d certainly be selective on which ones are worth the listen. This week, however, my attention was caught by “Artificial: The Open AI Story” by the Wall Street Journal podcast. Amazing, very compelling, and a entrepreneur’s dream. Masterclass - I was moved to tears on a bike at the gym this week, which really was a first to me. The culprit? Well if it wasn’t that wiley old Pharrell Williams and his motley crew of erudite and wondrous people. Waking Up to Empathy was powerful, moving and easy to adopt into our lives.       <image:caption>Well we lost a couple of days to some holidays around the New Year (which I spent in bed, ill with the rest of my family and slept soundly from about 8pm… which I actually loved). This week: Helped the coaching and onboarding of a very successful SDR as he progressed to his first AE role. I can’t speak highly enough for “Hire from within” and what it does for culture, onboarding and ramp. This particular SDR has been crushing it consistently and is primed to crush it, great to see and so thankful for their efforts. Started some major Revenue Engineering for a new client. I suppose it used to be called Growth Hacking, but that’s seems so old school now. We’re finding avenues to massively scale the user growth and economics, things looking good right now. Custom GPT - I built an AI Custom GPT to help me with my plans, milestones and goals for this year. It also helped me launch the company and set some major progression goals in place too. I don’t think I’ll use it to write these blogs, but I certainly love the image generation and info dumps. It got me thinking… prompts isn’t the best word for how you work with AI… I get why, but it suggests there’s a script you’re working on. I feel like we can already get more out of it by leveraging it for better collaboration. More on that in due course.</image:caption>

I took some time to understand the makeup of my body, to see doctors and get basic things solved. The big wins this week came from having line of sight on what I think will be the most pivotal year of my life yet. Mushroom Powder - I think the trend is well and truly here, or maybe I’m just in the echo chamber of a sub culture. Either way, I spent £100 on mushroom powder, capsules and I’m feeling very smug about it. My personal powder blend? Turkey Tail - Helps immunity among many things Lion’s Main - Helps blood pressure and neuroplasticity Chaga - Helps you live forever Black Fungus - Careful with this one, flavour can be a bit strong, I no longer put this powder in coffee. Big anti-inflammatory powers here. I recommend the Shroom Shop, nothing but great product and stellar service for me so far. Wholistic Health - Working with my Custom GPT has been great fun… The milestones and schedule alone has been great to extract more from my day. I will say that creating the fitness schedule has been a huge boon. I’m now: HIIT - Every Monday and Friday for fat loss and overall health. Endurance - Every Tuesday and Thursday for fat loss, and that sweet Zone 2 hit. Hypertrophy - Wednesday to help maintain efficient muscle mass.</image:caption>

Starting your day by making-real your feelings and thoughts of gratitude is incredibly powerful. Therapy - I reached back out to a great therapist I worked with years ago and I’ve found it very rewarding. I honestly see this as personal training for the mind and I can’t recommend it enough. I’m cutting the fat and building emotional muscle in the right places. Most of the time, I really don’t want to do it. But that’s good too. If you haven’t or don’t see a therapist. Give it a go, I promise you it can be very beneficial.</image:caption>
